The Connie Belin & Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development (Belin-Blank Center) has been awarded a grant by the John Templeton Foundation to develop the Templeton International Fellowship Program for 2008-2009.
The grant has allowed the Belin-Blank Center to provide fellowships for 50 international educators. The main activity will be participation in the Wallace National Research Symposium on Talent Development (May 18-20, 2008) at The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, USA. This is a premier research symposium on gifted education and talent development, which brings together leading researchers from around the world to share their current research. In addition, Templeton International Fellows will receive professional development in gifted education as part of the Fellowship Program. They will have the opportunity to influence and enhance gifted education in their home countries. All travel round-trip from home airport to Iowa City, Iowa, lodging, and educational expenses for the 50 Templeton International Fellows will be provided by the Fellowship.
One of the major goals of the Belin-Blank Center is to support gifted education at the international level and to help countries either initiate or further develop existing programs for their gifted students. The Belin-Blank Center is part of the College of Education at The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, and is world renowned for its research, training, and services for gifted students and their educators.
This is a unique and most exciting program that provides educators from throughout the international community an excellent opportunity to enhance their work with their gifted and talented students. We look forward to seeing the 50 Templeton International Fellows in May 2008.
